College set to offer two new online courses
Boston's Berklee College of Music has recently announced that it has added two new online courses in music marketing, Blast Magazine reports.
Starting this semester, the school will begin offering classes in campaign strategies for online music marketing, social media and digital distribution as well as online music marketing with topspin.
"These courses are designed to empower musicians and business folks with the real-world tools and techniques they'll need to effect change in their careers outside of the traditional, physical-based music retail and marketing world," said instructor Mike King, quoted by the news source.
"Our goal is to provide a detailed, step-by-step approach to maximizing your visibility online, building a faithful community and selling direct to fans," he added.
The curriculum will focus on social media marketing techniques and how statistical analysis can be applied to advertising campaigns. Each course is designed to train students how to successfully develop and execute a marketing campaign in the music industry.
Nearly one in four students take at least some college courses online, up from one in 10 in 2002, Reuters reports. The online education sector grew 13 percent last year and had been growing at about 20 percent in previous years.
