College launches online associate's and bachelor's degree programs

According to U.S. News and World Report, enrollment in online programs has increased by 832 percent to more than two million students over the past nine years. This may due in part to the flexibility and convenience that web-based programs offer.

One school that gives students the option of completing coursework online is Remington College. The institution recently announced that it will offer online associate's degree programs in criminal justice and paralegal studies.

Dale Leatherwood, president of Remington's online programs, said that the degrees provide the flexibility and convenience that many students need to achieve their educational goals.

The school will also offer students bachelor's degrees in business administration with concentrations in human resources and marketing, as well as criminal justice and organizational management programs.

The online education sector is becoming increasingly popular, as it grew by 17 percent in 2009 and had been growing at an annual rate of about 20 percent in previous years. Nearly one in four U.S. students currently take at least some college courses online, which is up from one in 10 in 2002, Reuters reports.
