Adult learners who are interested in a Christian education may be surprised to learn that the number of online colleges and universities that offer nonsecular education. Many campus-based schools offer online distance learning programs, even to individuals who are out-of-state.

For example, the Baptist College of Florida in Graceville offers online coursework in biblical studies, Christian counseling, ministry studies, leadership and Christian education, contemporary worship ministry and choral music education, the Florida Baptist Witness reports.

The school offers degree programs that prepare students for service training and leadership, reports the news source.

The school has three extension sites in Pensacola, Jacksonville and Orlando that offer online classes as well. Students who enroll in an online degree program only have to pay in-state tuition, which is often more affordable than out-of-state fees.

"The Baptist College of Florida is reaching out through international study opportunities, distance learning sites, internet delivery systems and many other innovative methods," Thomas A. Kinchen, president of the Baptist College of Florida, wrote on the school's website.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that clergy members can earn between $11.03 and $36.21 per hour. Individuals who have a degree in nonsecular studies, may go on to work at religious organizations, nursing care facilities, childcare centers or substance abuse hospitals.
