Bill Clinton accepts position as honorary chancellor of Laureate International Universities

Former U.S. president Bill Clinton recently announced that he has accepted the role of honorary chancellor of Laureate International Universities, a worldwide network of private higher education institutions.

In his new position, Clinton will advise the group of on-campus and online universities in several areas, including youth leadership, social responsibility and the importance of increasing access to quality post-secondary education in developing regions.

"Our objective is to achieve excellence in education on a global scale, and we believe that when we achieve this goal, communities benefit and nations prosper," said Douglas Becker, the founding chairman of Laureate Education.

"President Clinton's advice and support as honorary chancellor will be an invaluable boost to our efforts, and we know from his visits to our campuses that our students find him to be an inspiring figure and a symbol of leadership and community service," he added.

The former president, who is the founder of the William J. Clinton Foundation, has visited several Laureate-sponsored universities and will continue make additional appearances over the next few years.
