Those who wish to become pilots and flight engineers may have the best chances for employment upon earning an advanced degree or certification. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), about 76,800 of these professionals worked for major airlines in 2008.

The Bob Miller Flight Training (BMFT) school in Buffalo, New York, recently announced the opening of its newest location at the Genesee County Airport in Batavia, New York, the Daily News reports. Students of BMFT can earn an online associate's or bachelor's degree program in aviation studies as they obtain their professional pilot certifications through Utah Valley University and Mountain State College.

The addition of the new school brings the arrival of new jobs and the basing of two late-model training aircrafts at the airport. BMFT is affiliated with the Cessna Pilot Center, which uses training aircrafts that are among the most technically advanced in the world.

The BLS reports that pilots can work for commercial companies as flight instructors or for large business flying cargo or executives in private planes and helicopters.
