Online university offers scholarships for law enforcement certificate program
Professionals who work in law enforcement may be eligible for scholarships and grants for higher education. Many organizations provide financial assistance to individuals who wish to advance in their current job or explore new career options.
For example, the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) and Walden University have announced a partnership that offers a tuition discount to members of the organization who wish to enroll in online education programs. Walden's School of Public Policy and Administration has created six new certificate programs - including five graduate and one undergraduate - to meet the needs of these individuals.
Coursework will include the study of public policy, criminal justice, homeland security and nonprofit management.
"Emphasizing the importance of continuing education - both your own and of those who serve under you - can only help to advance the knowledge and insights required to uphold the guiding principles of NOBLE and of the greater law enforcement community," said Jonathan Kaplan, president of Walden.
Walden University's School of Public Policy and Administration offers bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees, as well as certificate programs to benefit public service professionals who wish to gain a competitive edge in their careers.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that average annual wages for law enforcement officials were between $49,421 and $90,570 during the 2008-2008 fiscal year.
