College set to add two online degree programs
Reinhart College has recently announced the addition of two new online degree programs created to meet the growing need for more law enforcement and fire prevention personnel.
Beginning in January 2010, the school will begin offering an associate of science in criminal justice and an associate of science in fire management.
The criminal justice degree is designed to offer introductory training to students who are interested in law enforcement, homeland security and security management positions in the public and private sector.
Meanwhile, the fire management program will prepare students for careers in firefighting and fire prevention. The curriculum has been developed from the model adopted by the fire and emergency services higher education network.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment for law enforcement and firefighting personnel is expected to grow by 12 percent over the next seven years. Applicants with associates degrees will have a significant advantage over those who only have their high school diploma.
Online education is a cost-effective and flexible option for those who would like to earn their degree but find it difficult to attend classes on campus because of distance, family or work commitments.
