University set to offer three new online courses
Authorities at Purdue University have recently announced that they have added three new online courses as part of their business program.
Starting in March 2010, PU will begin offering certificate courses in lean six-sigma methodology, which is a business improvement framework based on cost reduction techniques.
Many corporations use this type of methodology to improve efficiency and remove faults from business and manufacturing processes.
"The online lean six sigma program is a direct response to needs expressed by customers of Purdue University," said Vicki Maris, the school's director of professional development programs.
"It combines two popular and respected methodologies for improving processes and profits, and at the same time addresses requests for online delivery of instruction," she adds.
Purdue is also in the process of developing an additional certificate course in lean advanced methods and tools.
Today, over 3.5 million students are taking online courses and earning online college degrees. At the secondary school level, over 700,000 high school students are taking one or more courses online and nearly 40 states have established state-led virtual schools.
