UM-conceived company makes the list of 500 fastest growing private enterprises
Lurn, a provider of e-learning content and technology, has been named by Inc. Magazine as one of the 500 fastest growing private companies in the U.S.
The company was founded by Anik Singal who graduated from the University of Maryland in 2005 and participated in Mtech's VentureAccelerator Program, which offers faculty and students guidance and assistance with a range of new business processes.
"It is exciting to see an alumnus achieve national recognition for his innovative venture," says James V. Green, associate director of Mtech's entrepreneurship education programs.
"Lurn's success is a testament to the hard work of Anik Singal and his colleagues, as well as the portfolio of Mtech programs that help faculty and students develop great ideas into successful technology-based companies," he adds.
As a rigorous business education may open doors to rewarding careers and unlock creativity that can propel an individual to the top of the business world, adults who are planning to return to school may consider enrolling in an MBA program.
According to PayScale.com, a research company, average salaries for holders of MBA degrees ranged from $73,510 to $171,583 in 2008, depending on the field, position and years of experience.
