Staffers: Flexibility can be the best career move for recent college graduates
Although the economy is beginning to recover, competition for jobs is still running high among students who have recently earned masters degrees from campus-based and online colleges. As a result, some career experts are suggesting that students who are willing to take jobs for which they feel overqualified may put themselves on the fast track to advancement.
According to BMS, a staffing agency that focuses on the sales sector, jobseekers who take low status jobs may be able to prove themselves to their employers quickly, which could help them move up in their companies.
Furthermore, graduates who take positions with organizations that hold their dream jobs may be able to develop a strong relationship with their managers, who could help them take the proper steps to pursue lucrative positions. If they are flexible enough to meet the company's needs - which may include moving for work or even taking an overseas job - these individuals could prove to be valuable and be rewarded for their efforts.
Masters degree holders may also be able to earn higher salaries when they do move up the career ladder, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that these individuals can earn thousands of dollars more per week than graduates of bachelors programs.
