University of the Rockies has announced the introduction of a range of graduate certificate programs, including business psychology and organizational leadership, which may be of interest to adults who consider career switching.

Busy professionals may find it appealing that the 15-credit programs are offered both on campus and online, and those interested in further enhancing their skills may be able to apply the credits towards a masters degree with the same specialization.

"A police or corrections officer could make their application for a higher ranking position, or a position with another agency, more competitive with a graduate certificate," says Dr. Stephen Kirkpatrick, dean of the School of Organizational Leadership.

Similarly, "a professional in human resources or marketing could improve their likelihood of career success with a certificate in business or general psychology," he adds.

This type of education appears to offer a promising path to a higher-paying career as the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates demand for industrial-organizational psychologists will grow by 21 percent during the next few years, with the highest 10 percent earning more than $139,620 annually.
