Large donations help accommodate business students
Students who are enrolled in campus-based or online courses, and are earning a business degree, will find that some schools are creating new facilities that are specifically designed for these individuals.
In an effort to accommodate students who are seeking business degrees, Bennet S. LeBow recently donated $45 million to Drexel University (DU), which will go toward the construction of a new academic center. LeBow is a corporate executive and DU alumni.
The gift was the largest ever given to the school by a single donor.
George P. Tsetsekos, dean at DU's college of business, said that "the building will help us to better connect with the Philadelphia business communities and allow our students to learn in a setting that is less like a classroom and more like a corporate environment."
LeBow also donated $10 million to the school in 1999 which helped to create the Pearlstein Business Learning Center and launch an online MBA degree with industry specializations. As a result, student enrollment at DU has increased and prompted the construction of five new centers over the last decade, all of which have been for the business school.
