Industry meeting to offer educational, networking opportunities
Those considering an online business or accounting degree may be interested to know there are many networking events for professionals in these fields, such as the NASBA Expo scheduled to take place later this month.
The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy will hold its 2009 National CPE Expo from September 21-23 in San Antonio, Texas. It will also give professionals the opportunity to obtain up to 22 CPE credits necessary to maintain their CPA licensure.
The organization's CEO David Costello says the field of accounting is capable of withstanding the recession and thriving despite the economic slowdown.
He also expressed hope the upcoming event will launch an NASBA tradition of bringing together professionals and top-caliber speakers on an annual basis.
Those who would like to obtain a degree in accounting and take advantage of similar networking opportunities, may enroll in an online degree program. Such programs are offered by institutions around the country and are considered to be more cost-effective and flexible than traditional on-site instruction.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for accountants will grow by 18 percent during the decade of 2006-2016, and the top salaries in the field already exceed $94,050.
