The fields of architecture and engineering are closely intertwined. While there are many types of engineers, an Architectural Engineer works to plan, design and oversee the construction of a building or development. The educational requirements to enter the field are sometimes dependent upon city, state or federal requirements. Generally, a minimum of a four-year degree from an accredited college or university is required.

Structural Engineer
A Structural Engineer is typically heavily involved with the design of all types structures. In planning and building stages, they ensure the architecture meets all safety and service demands.
Architect
An Architect designs and oversees a buildings construction, and has similar job duties as a Structural Engineer.
Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Engineer
These types of specialist engineers manage the implementation of mechanical and electrical equipment, and the installation of plumbing systems.
